INDIANAPOLIS —Early Tuesday morning, a double shooting on the near north side of Indianapolis resulted in the death of a woman, leading to a swift police response and an arrest within 24 hours.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired shortly before 4 a.m. Once on-site, they discovered both an adult male and female suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers found the female victim, identified as 39-year-old Kia Robinson, unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The male victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.

An investigation by IMPD led to the identification of a 35-year-old male suspect. By Wednesday morning, detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit, along with the SWAT team, located and arrested him without incident. He now faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may have domestic ties, but authorities are continuing their investigation.
